Yup, you read that correct.
In the Turks & Caicos, you can actually cuddle with adorable potcake puppies on a tropical beach.
The rescue K-9 charity, Potcake Place (located in the Grace Bay area) is always looking for people to take their puppies to the beach for socialization.
Just imagine waking up in paradise and walking along the beach with a cute puppy.
Legit, every dog lovers dream!
What’s a Potcake Puppy?
Potcakes are a breed of dogs from the Bahamas / Turks & Caicos Island.
They’re called ‘Potcakes’ because the locals would feed them the caked remains from their cooking pots.
They’re described as being ‘extremely smart, loyal and loving’ dogs, ranging anywhere from 35-75lbs (most being around 45lbs).
Potcake Place is run solely by volunteers, so they need all the help they can get.
Some vacationers even fall in-love with a pup so quick, that they end up adopting them by the end of their vacation!
There’s no animal shelter on the island of Turks & Caicos, so all of the pups that are rescued, are housed in the volunteer’s homes, until adopted.
At any given time, there are between 5-15 puppies that are up for adoption.
It sounds like a great way to spend your Turks & Caicos vacation, doesn’t it?
