Yup, you read that correct. In the Turks & Caicos, you can hang out / cuddle with adorable potcake puppies on a tropical beach.
The rescue K-9 charity, Potcake Place (located in the Grace Bay area) is always looking for people to take their puppies to the beach for socialization.
Just imagine waking up in paradise and walking along the beach with a cute puppy.
Legit, every dog lovers dream!
Wonder what a Potcake is?
I originally had no idea what a potcake dog was, so don’t worry. Potcake is the name given to these dogs by the Bahamas / Turks & Caicos Island. The locals would feed these dogs the caked remains from their cooking pots.
They’re described as being ‘extremely smart, loyal and loving’ dogs and they range anywhere from 35-75lbs (most being around 45lbs).
Potcake Place is run solely by volunteers, so they need all the help they can get. Some vacationers even fall in-love with a pup so quick, that they end up adopting them by the time their vacation ends.
There’s no animal shelter on the island of Turks & Caicos, so all of the pups that are rescued, are housed in the volunteer’s homes, until adopted.
At any given time, there’s between 5-15 puppies that are up for adoption.
If you’d like to help Potcake Place and take one of their pups for a walk on the beach, reach out to them via email – email@example.com or you can give them a call @ +1 649-231-1010 .
